FANS are very much interested to watch new Burger King star players Alex Cabagnot and Wesley Gonzales play, when the Whopper take on the Sta. Lucia Realtors Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.
After sending guard Gary David and playmaker Chico Lanete to Coca-Cola via trade to get the two players, Burger King is hoping that there is an immediate turn of fortune on its side, when it plays all remaining games.
“We’re all hoping this is the beginning of a new chapter for our team with the arrival of Alex (Cabagnot),” said BK coach Yeng Guiao, noting that Cabagnot’s court leadership would be very crucial at this point.
The loss of David and Lanete would somehow give more minutes to Ronjay Buenafe, the team’s leading scorer at 14.4 points along with 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals in the first round, and swingman Mark Yee.
Gonzales, who returned to the franchise that drafted him five years ago, is also expected to contribute for Burger King with other wingman Ronnie Matias, big men Richard Yee, Carlo Sharma and Jay-R Quinahan.
Burger King is presently holding a 5-10 win-loss log, while the Kelly Williams-led Sta. Lucia Realty is holding an 8-6 slate.
A win by Burger king would definitely boost its chances to survive the dangerous wildcard phase.
